NEW BRITAIN — Restaurant week in the Greater New Britain area, also known as “The Taste of New Britain,” is underway. From now through July 26 enjoy a special, multi-course, price-fixed $20.14 menu at Little Poland restaurants and other participating area dining places.

Sharon Baretta, volunteer coordinator and Tim Stewart, president of the Greater New Britain-Berlin Chamber of Commerce, decided the time was right for the Chamber to hold this kind of event. “We had to postpone it originally,” said Stewart. “We didn’t have enough time to coordinate activities. Then, too, we wanted to do this in conjunction with a special event; the Nutmeg State games these two weeks [in New Britain ] was ideal.”

“People wondered why we hadn’t done Taste of New Britain before,” Stewart said. “I told them, ‘Nobody ever asked.’ The selling point this year is, ‘Let’s start it this year at no cost to you.” The chamber bore the cost of marketing and printing. Nutmeg State Games participants and their families received flyers about the event. Taste of New Britain started Saturday and restaurants like the Eastside have already realized business from the event.

“We have 13 restaurants on board,” said Stewart. “Seoul BBQ was packed on Saturday night. Next year, we’ll have more restaurants; some just weren’t ready this year." The Chamber invites everyone to experience savory and diverse culinary treats offered by New Britain’s finest restaurants. You can enjoy that special fixed-price meal at the following participating area restaurants:
